Connecticut Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), has awarded Preservation Connecticut a $30,000 CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant (CTCFOSG).

The funds will be used to enhance our digital infrastructure, especially the augmentation and maintenance of our five websites associated with surveys of historic places across the state (chronicling town greens, barns, industrial mill buildings, local historic districts and the special places that inspired 20th century artists and writers). The websites are an important tool for outreach, attracting thousands of users every month. As outlined in our strategic plan, Preservation Connecticut’s goals include make an impact, engage and inspire, and strengthen the organization.  At a time when virtual and digital presence is key, this grant will aid those goals, keeping us connected with our steady supporters and partners – and connect us with new audiences by making preservation tools and assistance more readily accessible and, we hope, provide inspiration to grow a preservation mindset.

We are grateful to be recognized by CT Humanities with this important CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant. This funding allows us, and many more cultural organizations, to make immediate investments in our communities.

Preservation Connecticut was one of 723 organizations in Connecticut that was awarded CT Cultural Fund support totaling over $8.5M from CT Humanities. The CTCFOSG are part of $30.7M of support allocated to arts, humanities, and cultural nonprofits through CTH over the 2022/2023 biennium by the CT General Assembly and approved by Governor Ned Lamont. The CTCFOSG will assist organizations as they recover from the pandemic and maintain and grow their ability to serve their community and the public.

This grant was administered by CT Humanities (CTH), with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) from the Connecticut State Legislature.
