Year in Review

2020

Preservation matters, even in a pandemic.

As we approach the end of the year, we want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support. Despite their difficulties, 2020’s “stay safe, stay home” and social distancing policies did have a silver lining for Preservation Connecticut.  We found new ways of connecting with people and fulfilling our mission by increasing our social media presence, launching weekly Zoom talks, and creating new partnerships through our digital media.

We are optimistically looking forward to the start of a new year. Holding an in-person awards ceremony, increasing the number of our events, and rallying at the capital for preservation legislation and funding are just a few items we hope to resume in 2021. Here are some accomplishments and resources as we look back on 2020:

Please look forward to the new year with us and consider donating to our year-end campaign. Together, we can improve Connecticut’s future by caring for our past.

“I appreciate all Preservation Connecticut does for us. Knowing I have someone I can turn to for advice makes the work on this house much less daunting.”-East Haven resident

We awarded over $175,000 in grants and consultancies statewide

Our Circuit Riders made over 124 Site visits to all 8 counties.

We held 24 events and workshops that reached over 600 people.

We protected 2 more places in perpetuity with easements.

“The knowledgeable staff at Preservation Connecticut are always ready to assist preservationists when a treasured historic resource is in harm’s way. Their guidance and encouragement are of immeasurable value, particularly to those who face a daunting preservation challenge for the first time.” -John Herzan, Branford

We turned 45 and rebranded our organization.
