Connecticut Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), has awarded Preservation Connecticut a $5,000 CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant (CTCFOSG).
The funds will be used to upgrade our five websites associated with surveys of historic places across the state including town greens, barns, industrial mill buildings, local historic districts and the special places that inspired 20th century artists and writers. The websites are an important tool for outreach, attracting thousands of users every month. Updating them to be even more user friendly and modern will allow us to reach a broader community to promote the importance of Connecticut’s historic resources.
“At Preservation Connecticut, we are grateful to have received a generous grant from CT Humanities through the Connecticut Cultural Fund. We are also delighted to see that so many of our local constituents at museums and historical societies are benefitting from this important program, as well! Over 600, wow! Congratulations, CT Humanities, for making an impact on so many organizations around the state. During a time that has been hard on everyone, these grant awards are a bright light for many.”
Preservation Connecticut was one of 624 organizations in Connecticut that was awarded CT Cultural Fund support totaling $16M from CT Humanities. The CTCFOSG are part of $30.7M of support allocated to arts, humanities, and cultural nonprofits through CTH over the next two years by the CT General Assembly and approved by Governor Ned Lamont. The CTCFOSG will assist organizations as they recover from the pandemic and maintain and grow their ability to serve their community and the public.
This grant was administered by CT Humanities (CTH), with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) from the Connecticut State Legislature.
