This week’s topic for  “Talking About Preservation” was Sustainability. More specifically, the goal was to feature a handbook (still in draft form) from the State Historic Preservation Office to help homeowners make their historic homes more energy efficient. Marena Wisniewski did a great presentation with tips on how to lower utility costs, use less energy, and contribute less to landfills, all while keeping your home’s historic features intact.  Here are some of the resources from the talk:

We added a couple additional resource links at the end of the presentation and you can always contact us for help.

The next “Talking About Preservation” will be on July 8th and we will discuss historic black churches and how we can help congregations preserve their sacred spaces. Stay tuned!
