Dr. Casey Jordan, Beacon Preservation
Join us on Wednesday, May 26th at noon to talk about one organization’s efforts to preserve and reuse lighthouses in New England with Beacon Preservation’s President, Casey Jordan. As the owner of two lighthouses, Beacon Preservation is a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of lighthouses and their environments for educational, cultural, recreational, and historical preservation purposes. Hear about their current Rehabilitation of Southwest Ledge Light in New Haven and how this unique type of preservation project can highlight the significance of these endangered and fascinating resources.
Bio: Dr. Casey Jordan, President of Beacon Preservation, is an attorney and social scientist devoted to lighthouse preservation and environmental conservation. With a diverse background in historical preservation, media relations, and law & society, her passion for lighthouse preservation is the natural evolution of 20+ years of researching and restoring historic properties. As a full professor (J.D., Ph.D.) in the Ancell School of Business at Western Connecticut State University, Casey balances her classroom teaching and scholarly research with law practice, mediation, policy analysis, and grant-writing.
