We hope you are all doing well and adjusting to life staying home, or staying safe at work if you have an essential job (which we thank you for!) Here are some updates related to Preservation Connecticut events and general preservation resources:

Our Annual Preservation Awards has been postponed until September 9, 2020. We are tentatively planning to hold a live event at the New Haven Country Club in Hamden, pending guidance from the Governor. We will announce the Award winners in July and look forward to celebrating this years’ preservation stars.

Of note, our Business Members have been expanding beyond their regular work to provide extra services to the community. John Canning Co., is providing decontamination, disinfection, and preventative cleaning for all interior spaces. You can learn more here.  Fuss & O’Neill has created a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities page on their website to help educators, parents, and students stay busy during these new and challenging times. Activities have included word searches, learning about bridges and dams, virtual field trips, and becoming a landscape designer- plus so much more! They post a new lesson daily here.

For a limited time, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has opened their entire collection of Forum Journal issues for anyone to view regardless of membership status. You can see them on Project Muse. The National Trust’s Forum Journal is a quarterly publication featuring in-depth articles on preservation issues. It includes timely, comprehensive pieces, often organized around a specific theme, about preservation issues of interest to a wide range of preservationists working across the country.

Our staff is still fully engaged and working to address preservation issues in your community.  Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, problems, or updates that you’d like to share. And stay tuned for upcoming live chats and workshops with our Circuit Riders and staff.  We are looking forward to connecting with you in new virtual ways.

Be well….
