The judges panel selected thirty-five images of Connecticut barns in four categories: black and white, color, detail, and smartphone. Included in this selection is “Best in Show,” Connie Mendolia’s “Tobacco Barn at Harvest Time, Glastonbury CT.”  The exhibit also includes four “Viewer’s Choice” photos which received the highest number of votes in each category on the contest website. This contest is a result of Preservation Connecticut’s continued commitment to honoring the Connecticut barn. From 2006-2013, the organization surveyed over 8,400 barns across the state with funding from the State Historic Preservation Office and 400 volunteers. The result was a database of 2,000 barns (www.connecticutbarns.org), 200 State Register of Historic Places barn nominations, and a trail leading visitors around the state to these iconic buildings.

The gallery opened at the Art League of New Britain in October and will be moving to the Loos Center for the Arts at The Woodstock Academy (Woodstock, CT). The gallery will be open by private appointment only from Monday, November 23rd, through Friday, January 8th. More details to come at  https://www.loos.woodstockacademy.org.
