Connecticut Landmarks is soliciting proposals for general contractors to do renovation and Restoration work at the c. 1678 Joshua Hempstead House located at 11 Hempstead Street in New London, CT. This small yet complex upgrade will be performed in the 19th century addition from an untimely mechanical failure. The basic scope, but not limited to:
- Selective demolition included removal of four cast iron radiators and boiler from basement and hot water tank.
- Furnish and install wall system for new toilet room in the former kitchen area.
- Furnish and install new sub floor and new linoleum flooring.
- Reroute electric as needed for new work, furnish and supply new wiring, switching, and lights as designated by Owner.
- Furnish and install new drywall to new wall framing with blocking installed for fixtures.
- Furnish and install new drywall to existing wall and ceiling framing in utility room.
- Finish all new drywall and sand in preparation for painting two coat finish.
- Furnish and install rough and finish plumbing as noted on drawings to also include an on demand water heater for toilet room.
- Furnish and install new mini split HVAC system in coordination with other trades.
- Various work on doors, finish carpentry, trim, and baseboards to match existing.
Interested parties with documented experience working on similar projects are encouraged to respond. The Owner will schedule Site visits as needed for contractors. Letters of intent due by 1 April and proposals by 8 April 2022. (Time frame first half of 2022 if possible)
