*Research for selection and stewardship of reproduction paper with a large-scale damask pattern printed en grisaille

*Facilitation of photography and artwork

*Development of colors and media to match original prototype

*Selection of cornice paper trim and colors

Wallpaper:

*Sidewall pattern design reproduced from extant fragments found on walls and dated to 1870s

* Interpretation of paints analysis to determine historic media, enabling visual impact to reflect appropriate colors and sheen

*Selected for cornice trim – a 1870 decorative paper border with flocked gothic shield motif. Original uncut sample located within Historic New England’s wallpaper archive

*Planning and oversight of artwork for border trim reproduction

 

Floorcloth:

*Pattern reproduced in design from extant fragment of c. 1860 printed floorcloth found repurposed at the “Evergreens,” (Dickinson’s brother’s house next door to the Homestead)

*Following conservation cleaning treatment, mixed print colors to match original

*Pattern design copied in full

*Printed and applied finish treatment. Installed floorcloth with replicated high-polish, to resemble closely, 19th century factory-made floorcloths, (also called Oilcloths)

*Research and consultation for reproduction of artifact fragment of ingrain carpet c. 1835. Fragment found in the Old Sturbridge Village Collection. Prototype was originally installed in the parlor of the Dickinson-White house in Amherst, Mass

* Selection and consultation on carpet colors to match original
