Planned Giving

Since Preservation Connecticut’s founding in 1975, many supporters have established planned gifts, large and small, in order to underwrite programs and build the organization’s endowment while creating lasting legacies that continue their philanthropic priorities.

A simple, versatile way to continue protecting Connecticut’s historic places for decades to come is to mention Preservation Connecticut in your will or living trust. A charitable bequest is very easy, and your generosity will not only help Preservation Connecticut continue its important work, but it may also inspire others to follow your example.

Bequests can take one of several forms, including:

  • A specified dollar amount.
  • Specified assets, such as securities, real estate, or tangible personal property.
  • Retirement account assets, consisting of any benefits remaining in your retirement plan.
  • A residuary bequest, in which Preservation Connecticut receives all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate after all other obligations are met.
  • A contingent bequest, in which Preservation Connecticut becomes the beneficiary only if the named beneficiary is unable to accept the bequest.

Before making any decisions, please consult your financial or legal adviser.  See Sample Bequest Language.

Recognition of these efforts come in the form of membership in the Preservation Connecticut Legacy Society. This elite circle of individuals are acknowledged and honored in Preservation Connecticut publications and events for their ongoing support of Connecticut’s heritage and our organization.  Please notify us of your intent by submitting to us this Charitable Bequest Intent Form. The form is for informational purposes only. Your estate is not legally bound by submitting this statement. Your intentions remain revocable and can be modified at any time. This information will be held in strict confidence.
